How to Import/Export OpenCart Reward Points

Have you considered creating a favorable loyalty program to improve customer experience in your OpenCart store by providing rewards for purchases? In case the only thing that stopped you from putting this idea into action was the fact that this process requires too many manual work, now you can forget about adding reward points to each product one-by-one.

The latest version of Store Manager for OpenCart application includes the functionality that allows you to Import/Export OpenCart reward points in bulk. So now you can quickly and effectively set points for hundreds even thousands of products in one go, using CSV files. This is a perfect solution to add, update or migrate your OpenCart reward point system via Import/Export.

Export OpenCart Reward Points

In case you have rewards points already set and need them to be modified or simply want to have template of CSV file to use it further for import, the initial procedure will be export.

If you want to create reward system for products of definite seller or per some category, filter and select goods. After that you can run Import/Export Wizard of Store Manager from ribbon menu, main product toolbar or context menu in the application.

Select ‘Export’ to load products with data into CSV and at the next step indicate how this file will be named and where it should be saved (at your computer or uploaded via FTP to some remote server).

Further settings you can leave with default values, until you see the step where you can select fields you want to export. On the left there are all available columns with product data. Move necessary ones to the right with buttons in the middle or drag&drop.

To export reward points include field ‘Points’ and you can also include other product-related fields per your choice. Do not forget to add the column with data that will be used as a unique identifier, like Model, EAN, SKU etc.

At the last step preview data and select after-export action to be able to view the file right away if necessary.

Spending Points Configuration

You can fill in your CSV file the amount how many your product will cost in points. For example, your items costs $100 and in points it will be 20.

In case you do not want to make manual calculations, you can decide on spending rule for reward point and apply special formula during import that will make necessary arithmetic counting for you. For instance, $1 can be substituted with 5 points.

Import OpenCart Reward Points

After you launch Import/Export Wizard and select ‘Import’, select prepared spreadsheet.

Use the same settings as were made during export.

At the step of mapping CSV columns to database names you can link to ‘Points’ the column with specified reward points. Do not forget to map identifier field that will be used as the source of check whether the imported products already exist in database.

Alternatively, you can auto-fill ‘Points’, applying special expression formula to make on-the-fly calculations on the basis of ‘Price’ column. So in case 5 points stand for $1, you can use the following calculation rule:


Where instead of INDEX there should be the number of column from your file with product price. As a result, in case product price is $100, applying expression the points will be calculated to 20. This is especially convenient in case your goods are priced differently to avoid manual counting.

Finally, you can preview the result and proceed with ‘Import’.
